PRO 1200 is simply a double run of PRO 600 in a single jacket. Because it has four conductors, it can be internally bi-wired, using one conductor pair for the mid-top and one for the woofer. When bi-wired, PRO 1200 is 11 gauge, just like the PRO 600 it's made from. "Shotgunned," however, its an EIGHT gauge (8 AWG!) and makes an utterly awesome subwoofer cable. For woofers, the more copper you've got, the better, and shotgunned PRO 1200 gives you a bunch of it! A hint: Wing Cheung, the lead reviewer for Hong Kong's Audiotechniques magazine, likes PRO 1200 well enough that he bought it as the woofer cables to go with the (very expensive) Signature Series Type 5.1's that he was using for the MidTops in his reference system. Using PRO 1200 as the woofer cables saved a lot of money, and according to Wing, the cables work together extremely well! |
